Steck PTA Executive Board Members
Welcome Back Fellow Steck Parents!
It’s hard to believe that we are gearing up for a brand new school year! We hope you all had a wonderful summer full of fun and rest, and that you are ready for a fantastic school year at Steck!
We are lucky to be entering the school year with a fantastic PTA board in place and we are excited to be planning many activities this year to help support our school and enrich our children’s education. Please know that the board is here to help you, answer any questions you may have, or take your suggestions. You will find a list of board members, their positions, and their contact information on, our newly re-designed Steck PTA website. We have also added an updated calendar of PTA events for this school year, and information on membership and upcoming events. You can access all of this information by clicking on the “PTA” link in the left hand menu on the Steck website.
Please mark your calendar for our ONLY fall fundraiser – The Fun Run - on September 28th, 2013. Based on feedback from Steck parents, we have continued to streamline our fundraising efforts this year, but we need your support to make the remaining events a success. Our volunteers have put a lot of time and effort into planning the Fun Run event and are hoping for a large turnout of Steck families. This event not only raises funds for much needed Steck programs, it is a really fun family event! Besides the run itself (you can register for a 1 mile or 5K option), your registration fee includes entrance to the amazing after party held at Steck which includes free food and drink, DJ, free massages, demonstrations and free giveaways from our sponsors, and an amazing prize drawing.
We have many exciting things in store for the 2013-2014 and as usual we are very excited to work with any additional volunteers who are able to donate their time to help. Your membership in the PTA does not require you to volunteer, but it sure makes it more fun! If you have a lot of time to give, or just a little, we have volunteer opportunities to fit all schedules to help you get involved. We encourage you all to attend our first PTA meeting on August 28that 7pm in the MPR and learn more about what we have in store for this year. We welcome you all!
Here's to another great year!

Do you enjoy writing stories, taking pictures, choreographing dances, composing music, filming movies, or drawing pictures? If so, then please consider creating something for the PTA Reflections Program this year. This program was created to give students an opportunity to explore and express their artistic talent.
This year’s theme is “Believe, Dream, Inspire.” All works must relate to this theme.
Entry forms and the Information packet are available for download via the links below:

Rules for participation (Click on the following links to download the PDF):
- Rules in Brief
- General Participation Rules
- Special Artist Division Rules
- Visual arts
- Music Composition
- Dance Choreography
- Film Production
Each category has two divisions:
All submitted works will be judged, and the top 5 works in each division of each category will move on to the Indian Prairie Parents’ Council (IPPC) level. All works submitted to the IPPC level will be judged, and some will move on to the District 36 level. The process then repeats itself to the state, and then to the national level. Recognition awards will be given out along the way. Steck will recognize each of the participants in a special way.
Each work submitted must follow the rules set forth for the category for which it is entered. It also must have an entry form submitted with it. The entry form is attached. Please fill out the entire front. On the back, please fill in the title of the work and the required artist’s statement. This statement should communicate the artist’s inspiration for the work and how it relates to the theme (at least one sentence, but not more than 100 words). Finally, fill out the part that corresponds to the submitted work’s category.
All works are to be submitted no later than October 22. Works can be turned in to the office or directly to Beth Tukker at 2561 Doncaster Dr. Please call (630-667-8311) to confirm beforehand.
We are looking forward to lots of great work to be submitted! “Believe, Dream, Inspire” your way to create some amazing works of art!
