Music In
music class, the goal is to learn about music largely by making
music with our classmates through singing and playing classroom
instruments. Kindergarten students have music once a week for 25 min.
and 1st-5th grade students have music twice a week for 25 min.The students will earn their music grade by participating in musical activities and class discussions, demonstrating musical skills through singing and performing on classroom instruments, and by taking written tests which assess the student's development of reading and writing musical symbols. The students will earn their music effort grade by following rules and directions, cooperating with others, and by having fun! 3rd-5th grade students learn to play the recorder, a woodwind instrument each child purchases, and is responsible for bringing back and forth between home and school for practice. Forgetting recorder materials numerous times will result in a lower music grade for our recorder unit. After our unit, recorders will be kept in the classroom for use as needed.
